Every day, I walk up to 6 miles across the beautiful countryside of Surrey, England. Accompanied by my exuberant puppy, Peanut, a cheeky but loveable cocker spaniel, I have watched the seasons grow and change, watched the forests change shape and colour, and marvelled at the plentiful harvests of the forests and hedgerows.
Who am I? A trained chef, a previous London city-dweller a lover of shoes and handbags, and a self-confessed cheese addict. I run a small catering business, Pickle and Fizz serving food for parties, events, weddings and more.
1 year ago I left the “Cronx” of Croydon with my husband, setting up home in a village only 30 minutes from London but a thousand figurative miles away. Countryside living is still new to me, 1 year on. I know next to nothing about gardening, I have never “learned” to forage, and I am not a vegetarian. However, the beauty and bounty I have seen has spurred me on to start this little adventure; indulging my passion for Italy and Italian cuisine, but using the ingredients I find, and ingredients we grow here in the UK as my inspiration.
From wild garlic in April, hazelnuts in Autumn, and rhubarb in February, I will create menus that match the seasons and the harvest; and I’ll track them all here, on my little corner of the internet.
Oh, and of course, you can try them too….come on down to Surrey, and take part in one of my Supperclubs. Experience 5 courses of delicious food, paired with exquisite wines from England and Italy, and enjoy the company of fellow foodies for an evening.
